| Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 – World  Rally Champion 1985 - 1986 – Paris Dakar Winner 1987 -1988 – 2nd  Pikes Peak 1987The Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 project is unveiled in 1982, the  first prototype is built in 1983.   In 1984 the car achieve its first victories before  winning Wolrd Rally Championship (WRC) in 1985 and 1986. Peugeot wanted to promote the launch of the  205 series in production  and to demonstrate its skills and knowledge of automobile. To be able to race in Group B, the FIA recquired at this time that 200 road homologated vehicles were available in production. Peugeot technicals choice  were the following : 
              Compact car4 wheel drives with the possibility to modify torque  depending on ground grip : 25% front/ 75% rear for asphalt and 45% front/  55% rear on snow and ice.1775cm3 engine supercharged delivering 450 HPComposite materials to limit weight to 960 kg. After its Group B victories ( World Champion 1985, 1986)  Peugeot adapted successfully the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 for Rally Raid, winning  Paris Dakar in 1987 and 1988.The Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 also competed at Pikes Peak in 1987  with a special evolution claiming 2nd place with Ari Vatanen at the wheel.
