Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione 2006
Following the concept car presented at the 2003 Francfurt Motor show , Alfa Romeo is introducing a limited edition supercar to be produced with Maserati .
The name 8C Competizione is an historical allusion. The 8C code was used to identify racing and on road cars of the Thirties and Forties equipped with the revolutionary eight cylinder engine produced by the famous designer Vittorio Jano. The term Competizione is intended as an homage to “6C Competizione sports coupé driven in 1950 by Fangio and Zanardi in the famous Mille Miglia race.

The attractive shape of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was created by the Alfa Romeo Style Centre and optimized in wind tunnel testing. Much attention have been devoted to create a ground effect to help increase the stability.
The engine is a brand new 90° V8 with a cylinder capacity of 4.691 cc and producing 450 hp at 7.000 rpm. The engine block and cylinder head are made of aluminium.
The engine is longitudinal and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a computerized 6 speed gearbox located on the rear axle.
The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione has a compact frame made of steel to achieve the greatest torsional rigidity. The body is made of carbon fibre reinforced composite.
