Production of the Fiat 1500 was launched before the second World War. The mid-range vehicle with a central box frame was supplied as a two door and four door saloon as well as being available as a two door convertible. The vehicles were powered by a 4-cylinder in-line engine with displacement of 1493 cm3. The power was transfered through a 4 speed gearbox with drive to the rear wheels. The top speed was 114 km/h. One year after the Chrysler Airflow, the Fiat 1500 was one of the first vehicles to be tested in a wind tunnel. The design originated from Dante Giacosa. The father of the current ownner acquired the exhibited vehicle with a custom body produced by Touring and appears not to have driven the vehicle a great deal on the roads. His son had this Fiat 1500 Touring lavishly restored between 2000 and 2006.
