Iso Rivolta Grifo Can Am 1971
The sports-car company founded by Renzo Rivolta in Bresso near Milan originally started out by manufacturing cooling systems, motorcycles and the Isetta micro-car. In 1962, Iso Rivolta presented its first sports car in the luxury class. Cooperation with design engineer Giotto Bizarrini, the designer Giorgetto Giugiaro and Bertone resulted in a sequence of fascinating models powered by V8 engines from General Motors. The two-seater Iso Grifo sports car was presented as a prototype in Turin 1963 and was then built in various versions between 1964 and 1974. The car shown here is one out of probably three units powered by a 7.6 litre Can-Am engine. The powerful V8 gave the car a top speed of nearly 300 km/h. The Iso Rivolta Grifo CAN AM 1971 was originally delivered tp Switzerland and a thorough restoration of the bodywork was carried out during the 1990s.
