Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gull Wing : high-tech and fascination -
Early 2009 Mercedes announced the newcoming SLS AMG 'Gullwing'. It is impossible not to mention the Mercedes 300 SL from the fifties as we look at the masked car pictures provided by the manufacturer.
The Mercedes SLS AMG Gull Wing is propelled by a V8 AMG front mid-engine. The engine is conncected to the rear double clutch transmission by torque tube with integrated CRP drive shaft. Brakes are using newly developed AMG ceramic compound brake disc.
They optimized the car body-structure using cross-sections for better crash-test performance and included a set of new technologies to improve safety and efficiency. Tortionally stiff structure weight only 241 kg

Weigt is optimised by material mix with parts by-weight repartition of : 45 percent of aluminium profile, 31 percent aluminium sheet panels, 20 percent cast alumium and 4 percent of steel.
