Peugeot 401 D Roadster with coachwork Crouzier 1935

This Peugeot 401 D was delivered in 1935 in the form of a chassis of with mechanical components to Miss Jeanne Bourgeois, famous music hall singer and movie actress, better known by her stage name Mistinguett. She asked the coachwork builder Henri Crouzier to build an elegant roadster body with two seats and an elegant streamlined style . With this unique body by Crouzier, this Peugeot 401 D participated in several Concours d'Elegance, like Vichy or Deauville.

This Peugeot 401 D has every mechanical components identical to the original production 401 : that is a 1720 cm3 in line 4 cylinders side-valves engine developing 44HP with 3 speed gearbox propelling the rear wheels. Brakes are drum type at each wheel. The top speed was claimed at 100 kph (62 mph). The Peugeot 401 was produced at 13.545 examples between September 1934 and Auguat 1935 proposed in eleven body style one of which was the famous Eclipse cabriolet with electrically operated steel roof.
