Renault Type DP Torpedo 1913
The Renault Type DP, in 1913, formed part of a broad range of models, and the big-bodied Torpedo version featured a particularly powerful engine.
The France of 1913 was marked by a reform of the country's complex road tax rating system. The name of many cars was changed. For example the 20 CV Type CE became 22 CV Type DP. It was not easy for customers to keep track, especially since the Renault range of the day featured an impressive array of vehicles, from the diminutive 8 CV AX to the monumental 50 CV six-cylinder, which were all available with a wide variety of body types. Customers could pretty well order their cars "à la carte". The Type DP, a bulky car with a big four-cylinder engine, was one of the range's flagship models and offered occupants a spacious, comfortable interior.
