On April 24th 2011 about 25.000 fans at Le Mans Test Days saw many contenders evaluating and improving the settings of their cars for the race that is planed for the 11th and 12th of June. A total of 74 cars took part to the test session, most of them (55) are to participate to 24 Hours Le Mans. Other were testing their cars for another endurance race or in case they would be called to replace an eventual defection. In LMP1, as in past years, diesel engines are leading the timesheet with the three official Audi R18 TDI and the three official Peugeot 908 along the private Peugeot 908 HDI FAP from 2010. The gasoline engine LMP1 cars followed with the Pescarolo Judd leading with the two Rebellion Racing's Lola Toyota. In LMP2, the cars powered by Nissan engines ( Zytek n°41, Oreca n°26 and Oreca n°48) fought to achieve the best time. In GTE Pro category, the Ferrari 458 Italia from Hankook-Farnberger was fastest in front of the BMW M3 GT, but there was a short difference in lap time between the Ferrari, the BMW and the Porsche 911 RSR. In GTE Am, the Corvette C6 ZR1 of Larbre Competition made the fastest lap time. These preliminary test sessions were, however, essentially development runs and not qualification runs so it is possible that some contenders have kept some performance potential for the race when the real competition starts.
