Ital Design Mustang concept 2006
The Mustang concept by Ital Design was introduced at 2006 Los Angeles Motor show. This exploration of American muscle car was developed under the direction of Fabrizio Giugiaro ; it is a contemporary remake of the popular sports car concept invented by Lee Iaccoca in 1964 for the American market.
The development work started in early 2005 with design entirely carried out in virtual mode. A full scale styrofoam model was completed and introduced for evaluation by a limited number specialists including J. Mays , group vice president of Design of Ford Motor Company. Some adjustments were proposed to blend Italian styling with the proportion of the american original .
The actual concept car has a body made of carbon fiber and propulsion is by a Ford 4,6 liter V8 tuned by Ford Racing with Whipple/Ford Racing supercharger with output of 500 hp.
The roof is made from a type of crystal produced by Solutia of Detroit, which filters out 100 percent of the UVA rays, thereby ensuring optical continuity of the shape while protecting the occupants from overexposure to sunlight.
