Alongside a majority of gasoline engine production models, the Tokyo Motor Show introduced a wide variety of concept vehicles with electric propulsion in various drive-train solutions. Considering the success of gasoline/electric hybrid Toyota Prius , the Honda Insight and Civic hybrid as well as the pure electric Mitsubishi MiEV introduced on the market in 2009 or some Nissan Qashqai electric taxi operating in Tokyo, Japan is a leading country for a return of the electric propulsion. The 42nd Tokyo Motor Show was an exceptional illustration of this trend. The micro-car new urban electric commuter solution illustrated by Renault with the recently introduced Twizzy find design studies on several Japanese manufacturers exhibits; Nissan that is associated with Renault showed a Nissan branded Twizzy. We are presenting herewith a non exclusive selection of interesting and original cars and design studies exhibited at this show.
