Developing and manufacturing a sports car was not really on the agenda at Rolls Royce. However, in view of the huge successes of competitor like Bentley at Le Mans from 1924 onwards, Henry Royce felt compelled to design his own version of a sporty car.

The early Ferrari cars were all based on the V12 engine developped in 1947 by Ing. Gioacchino Colombo with Luigi Bazzi. The first edition was the 1500 cc engine of the Ferrari 125S. The designation of the early Ferrari corresponds to the cubic capacity of one cylinder. Cylinder heads, block and crankcase were cast of aluminium alloy. Cast iron wet cylinder liners were set in and maintained in compression by the cylinder heads. The engine had a single overhead camshaft. • 26 - Ferrari 250 LM Stradale Speciale 1964 – exhibit Luka Kuni

1964 was the time to develop a successor for the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. Ferrari decided against resource-intensive advanced development and opted to fit a fixed roof to the existing open-top Type 250 P racing car for the Gran Turismo Class. The car was given the designation 250 LM and the body was developed by Pininfarina. The Ferrari 250 LM was used in the class of racing prototypes because the 100 units of this type necessary for homologation in the GT class could not be built by the end of 1965. On request, the Ferrari 250 lm could also be ordered in a roadworthy version and this made it the first series Ferrari to be powered by a centrally mounted engine. A total of 32 Ferrari 250 LM cars were manufactured. All were powered by the 3.3 litre V12 (3.285 cc.) developing approximately 320 hp, apart from the prototype with a three litre engine. ... 27 - 1941 Pierre Faure Type PFA two seats electric car - Sold 51 256 €

- During World War II, one of the problems hindering transport was the shortage of raw materials, including fuel. Builders and craftsmen launched into the design of systems or vehicles that could operate with another type of fuel or energy. Thus emerged vehicles driven by gas and gas cylinders, and several projects for electric cars, the best known probably being the Peugeot VLV . This little Pierre Faure (formerly a collaborator of the legendary Louis Breguet) is one of those ingenious attempts. The car could reach 40 km/h and its autonomy was estimated from 50 to 70km depending on the number of starts, load and road conditions.
