The Mazda Sassou was conceived and designed at Mazda’s European Design Centre in Frankfurt, Germany. It is a sleek, three door hatchback for young, first car customers that makes everyday city driving fun, highly practical and economical.
One special feature is the four to three places interior seating system: for one rear passenger, compressed air fills the sides of the rear seating area to form a single seat in the middle. For two passengers, air fills the seatback in the middle, forming two seats, one on each side.

The front of the vehicle further evolve the nose design of the Mazda RX8 and features a large grille that is framed by chevron shaped headlight graphics and designed to move in and out, depending on the cooling system requirement .
The Japanese word Sassou was chosen precisely because it means having a positive state of mind, of looking to the future with optimism.
