Porsche RS Spyder LMP2 racing car 2005 2010
Porsche is officially introducing the RS Spyder sports racing car homologated for LMP2 Le Mans class. This makes it a suitable car for Le Mans 24 hours, Le Mans series, American Le Mans series. The Porsche RS Spyder has been under development while participating to some races of American Le Mans in the hands of US Penske Motorsport.
The 90° V8 water cooled racing engine developped by Porsche for long distance events develops maximum output from 3.4 litres displacement and with the air volume restrictor required by the pertinent regulation of 503 hp at 10.300 rpm.
The weight of the car is also in line with regulations at exactly 775 kg.
This prototype sports car is based on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. The sequential six speed gearbox with its three plate carbon fiber clutch is fitted length wise and is integrated into the chassis as a load bearing element.
