- Paris, Rétromobile 2022 combined with Artcurial Auction- |
|
The 46th edition of the traditional Retromobile Classic Car Show in Paris occured finally after several postponment due to the Covid pandemy. This 2022 Retromobile edition once again gathered some 100,000 visitors in five days. Some limitation in foreign exhibits did not alter the great variety of exceptional automobiles on the show. It was the occasion for 50 years of the popular Renault 5 produced in more than five million examples exhibited here together with a new Renault 5 fully electric intended for production in 2024.
The Classic Car Specialist Kidston organised an exceptional exhibit of seven selected models of the McLaren F1 that was produced in 109 examples, became an iconic three seats supercar with speciall prepared BMW V12 and that eventually won Le Mans 24 Hours Endurance race at its first participation.
The 2022 Retromobile was a special occasion to discover reconstruction of several exclusive models like the 1770 Fardier de Cugnot considered the first self operating vehicule with a giant steam boiler on the front driving wheel. Another reconstruction was the Lamborghini Countach LP500 prototype exhibited for the first time fifty years ago at the Geneva Motor Show; Polo Storico Lamborghini completed a reconstruction of the iconic automobile for a car collector.
Artcurial Auction organised a vast selection of wide variety of interesting historic automobiles which required two sessions for the complete auction. The auction sale was concuded with 82% proposed automobiles changing hands. Record sale included a 4,390,400 Euros result for a 1968 Porsche 907 ex works team that participated at Le Mans 24 Hours three times. A Ferrari F50 with 1318 km was sold for 4,161,600 Euros ; only 349 F50 were ever produced. Artcurial also proposed a reconstruction of the Bugatti Aerolithe Concept introduced in 1935 as a base for the exceptional Bugatti Atlantic of which only three examples are identified. The reconstruction of the Aerolithe was completed with the special ultra-light Electron alloy based on aluminium and magnesium that required riveting assembly. The Bugatti Aerolithe Replica finally was not sold.
Considering the great selection of exceptional automobiles exhibited at Retromobile or proposed at Artcurial Auction we have decided the introduce a combined gallery of photos by make and in chronological order for an easy overview of these collections.
