Peugeot 908 RC concept car 2002
The Peugeot 908 RC concept car is a styling exercise celebrating the new V12 Diesel engine developped for Le Mans series racing championship.
The Peugeot 908 RC represents a four seaters saloon concept with mid engine propulsion like the one illustrated in previous Peugeot RC concepts.
The V12 engine is positioned transversally above the 6 speed robotized gearbox just in front of the rear axle. The 5,5 litre Diesel engine with twin turbocharger and twin particule filters produces 700 hp.
The body shape is dictated by the position of the propulsion group and results in forward cabin style with short bonnet. A huge curved windscreen provides large visibility and is continuated by glass over the roof. There is a 300 dm3 luggage space in the 92 cm rear body overhang. It is completed by a 220 dm3 luggage space in the front end.
There is a spoiler at the end of the boot pannel that can be extended for further stability.
The interior contains separate seating and high content of electronic controls dominated by a touch screen at the center of the control pannel and repeated over the middle tunnel by a second similar element aimed at the rear passengers.
